Shoe Care Tips - how to look after shoes If your want your quality shoes to last do the following - Never wear two days in a row - Your feet sweat and dress shoes need to dry out slowly
- Polish them with good polish, regularly - The polish keeps the leather supple, without polish it can crack, especially after getting wet
- Always use a good shoe tree (not springs) - Some say Cedar wood helps, doubtful, but smells nicer!
- Never dry out on or near a heat source - Guaranteed to damage them!
- Avoid getting them wet in the first place! - Check the weather forecast before you leave. The Irish invented brogues to let the water out of their soggy footwear!
- Resole them at first sign of a hole - before you damage the welts - Make sure a proper cobbler does the repairs - Need to make sure the stitches go through the same holes
- Never glue on rubber soles - Very difficult to reverse, and if you patch over a hole the inside bits can get damaged when you try to remove it later.
- Always use full sole not half - They usually fall apart otherwis
